O Naadan parindey ghar aaja.....

Spoiler alert( people who haven't read R2020 plzz escape the last para and those who already have are welcome to join the discussion.)

Last one month was the best since I joined my post graduation. After the scorching and chaotic A unit, B unit is like an oasis for the Orthopaedics first year resident where one can take rest, ponder over the journey so far and get ready for miles more that are yet to be covered. Well I have been doing exactly the same. Life happened to me and was ready with its big questions once again. Over the span of past 3 years I have lost myself quite a number of times finding the answers to these . I was able to figure out a few and left the others to reveal themselves when the time is right. this time I got stuck again. The question was concurrently relevant.
I asked myself "How much selfish I could be?" We all are a bit selfish, we are self obsessed, we cater for our needs first. We dont give a damn if some one is dying when our lives are on stake. These all revelations came to me after seeing life and death both very very closely and repeatedly. Although I wasn't direcly involved, this human nature intrigued me. Is being selfish bad ? Or it depends on one's own conscience, which can handle the guilt feeling. One can't be selfish if one's conscience doesn't allow. After all we can cheat others not ourselves. When people commit sins, are they always wrong ? Its all very relative... like Einstein's 'Theory of Relativity'. Selflessness is virtue of saints not normal human beings. Then how a normal human being comment on the others act s an act of selfishness or selflessness being completely unaware about their story. All this judging phenomena is a vicious cycle complicating things. After this realisation dawned upon me, I decided one thing "I will never judge a person on his/her single act of selfishness". In lieu of that I allowed myself to be a little selfish for myself. And that has eased things for me. Now I am happier than I used to be. I feel free. I have stopped getting hurt and so I rarely hurt anyone.

"What one needs to be really happy ?? How can one be absolutely self content?" Was the next big question. Who is the happiest person on earth ?? Not necessarily Bill Gates or Dhirubhai Ambani coz I'm sure they have their issues too. Babaji who has denounced life and went to Himalayas to be in unison with God ? I dont think so... they stopped life happening to them. I see them as quitters who have quit the game of life coz they couldn't beat the highest score.
Finally I figured out, you just need yourelf to be really happy. Yeah, call me selfish, but thats the truth. Most self obsessed people are or were really happy. Call me a big fan of Einstein but he is the biggest example. People who are visionary, who are obseessed with an idea, with a dream, with a person(well that can be contrary if its not the other way round).
To conclude people in love are really happy. People who are in love with themselves, with someone, with an idea, with a dream, with a passion. Selfishness is not that bad if that does no harm to others. People call reserved people nerdy, unsocial and selfish. I respect them. Coz they respect themselves. They love themself and their passion. In reality they dont need somene to connect to, they are the least needy and the strongest of all. They are in direct unison with God. And they bring the CHANGE.

Just finished reading revolution 2020 today. The book kept me hooked and thinking. There was something in the book which connected us. Was it the Varanasi connection, the relevant plot, a selfish love story told unbiased with honesty, or the selfless end for the good of everyone? I kept thinking over the plot again and again whole night, with Rockstar's - "Naadaan Parindey" in infinite loop , got up late, reached on time somehow, but got scolded by the Professor for my absent mindedness during rounds. Nevertheless, the book left an open ended question, like Bhagat said "Let the readers decide whether the protagonist was good or bad". In my opinion he was just another person in love which made him do crazy things to get the girl of his dreams, he was justified in taking revenge from life which screwed him earlier, although his methods were corrupt. After he was done and achieved everything including the girl of his dreams and was all set for roaring future ahead, his conscience got moved by a single glimpse of a sick child and a passionate person committed to bring the change in society. His silent appeal was strong enough to make him change his biggest decision, his motivation for everything. In the end the good person inside him won. He appeared a loser at first but he saved himself from feeling like a loser everday. He would have woken up beside his girl of dreams in his mansion, with royal breakfast ready to be served, Mercedes and Ambassadors all lined up for caravan but deep inside he will still feel like a minion. It takes a lionheart to give back the thing which you have got after striving for your whole life, his only reason to live. Every revolution starts like this, with people's sacrifices and even bigger sacrifices like this. After Anna's campaign, the book's content seemed even more relevant. it has come out at the right time. It can act as a nitrous oxide boost in an engine ready to go. What Chetan wants to bring is not impossible, and he is targeting the right people. Only we can bring the change. Lets join hands.
